MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies, scattered rainshowers are expected over the western part of Southern Luzon and Visayas due to the southwesterly wind flow, the weather bureau said on Saturday.
“We have cloud clusters called southwesterly wind flow that are affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas,” said weather specialist Chenel Dominguez in a mix of Filipino and English during the 4 p.m. weather forecast.

Dominguez said that as the Philippines is situated in the middle of Typhoon Kristine and Tropical Storm Kong-rey (domestic name: Leon) outside the Philippine area of responsibility, the northern part of Luzon will experience fair weather.

Dominguez also noted Luzon, the Rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience fair weather on Sunday. Rainshowers brought by the southwesterly wind flow will prevail over Palawan, western section of Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 11 a.m. bulletin on Saturday that Tropical Storm Kong-rey accelerated and maintained its strength.
