MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the total number of storm-related death reports they received is now 81, with only one of them validated as of Saturday morning.

In a situational report released at 8 a.m. on October 26 regarding the impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami), the NDRRMC also disclosed receiving information that 66 people were injured while 34 others went missing as the storm beat parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao since Tuesday, October 22.

The NDRRMC said it so far confirmed just one case of a missing person due to Kristine.

The latest situational report did not present an updated breakdown of the death count per region.

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator and Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno said in the Saturday News Forum that his agency’s storm-related data indicated 81 deaths, 66 injured, and 34 missing. It was not clear, however, if the OCD already validated these information.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC reported that based on newest data, Kristine afflicted 4,207,387 people, including 495,123 displaced individuals, nationwide.

It added that 318,538 of the 495,123 displaced persons were staying at 6,452 evacuation centers as of Saturday morning.

The NDRRMC likewise mentioned monitoring 547 flooded areas in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western and Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, Caraga, Bangsamoro Administrative Region in Muslim Mindanao and Metro Manila or the National Capital Region.

To date, Kristine’s wrath resulted in 83 cities and municipalities declaring a state of calamity, it added.

On Kristine’s impact on infrastructure, the NDRRMC estimated the damage at P203,826,014.38 as of October 26.

Earlier on Saturday, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported that 25 road sections in six regions – 12 of them were in Bicol – remain closed to traffic.
