BACOLOD CITY – The number of deaths due to dengue in Negros Occidental this year has reached 15.
The Provincial Health Office reported on Friday, Oct. 25, that there were 5,108 dengue cases in Negros Occidental from Jan. 1 to Oct. 19, 2024.
Article continues after this advertisementThe figure is 3,837 cases or 301.89 percent higher than the 1,271 cases over the same period in 2023.

The report said most of the dengue cases were within the 11 to 20 years old age group.

The dengue virus is transmitted by day biting Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes.
