MANILAbuzzluck, Philippines — A namesake of South Korean actor Lee Min-ho was arrested late last month at the Clark Freeport Zone, the Bureau of Immigration reported.
The BI said 37-year-old Lee Minho is wanted in Korea and by the Interpol for “inflicting bodily injury on a person.”
In a statement, the BI said its Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) agents nabbed the Korean on Nov. 25 following the issuance of a mission order for his arrest.
Lee, according to the information the BI received from the Korean government, conspired with several others to inflict serious physical injuries on a person using a baseball bat five years ago.
He is also the subject of an Interpol red notice issued in October for the same offense.
In three other operations, the BI-FSU also arrested four fugitives – Jordanian Shalabi Nidal Mohd Suleiman, Chinese Wei Xiaofeng and Taiwanese Chen Chi-Yin and Huang Chun Fu.
Suleiman is wanted in Dubai for theft, Wei for invasion of privacy and the two Taiwanese, alleged to be members of the Bamboo Triad, for fraud.
“The Philippines is not a sanctuary for wanted foreign criminals. They will be deported, blacklisted and perpetually banned from re-entering the country for being undesirable aliens,” BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.
He noted that the BI’s close coordination with foreign counterparts led to the arrest of the fugitives.buzzluck
