MALOLOS, Bulacan, Philippines — The water elevation of Angat Dam is still 10 meters below the ideal end-of-year level of 210 meters.
Based on monitoring by the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the dam’s water elevation was at 200.17 meters as of 8 a.m. yesterday.
Angat’s normal high water elevation is 210 meters during the wet season and 212 meters in the dry months.
Placida Cordero, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bulacan manager, said there is a possibility that the water allocation for irrigation of rice lands in Bulacan and parts of Pampanga may not be sustained if the water level falls below the 180-meter minimum operating level during dry cropping season.
The irrigation water coming from Angat Dam is distributed through Bustos Dam to the NIA service areas in both provinces.lucky elektra
